With being awarded a Michelin Star, I really was expecting a Michelin Star experience.
To start things off, my reservation was for lunch at 13:30pm (as booked through restaurant week). At 19:30pm the night before I get a whatsapp from the restaurant confirming my reservation for 13:00pm. I advised that this was incorrect, as the booking was in fact 13:30pm.
Long story short, was advised that I need to arrive between 12-13pm as bookings need to be spaced out and also that the diningcity app doesnt link directly to their booking system. We eventually settled that I could arrive at 13:45pm.
I found it a bit odd that for a restaurant of this caliber to be confirming less then 24hours beforehand as well as now expected to now move things around to meet their dining time which was not advised beforehand.
Anyway...
As it was the set menu, it was served pretty speedily after we had sat down.
There was also a lovely bread and butter served, but from experience at other 5 Star/Michelin Star dining, it is always number one priority to keep the table neat and tidy. Crumbs were everywhere and not swept up until 6 courses later.
Food
Food was good, a nice selection across meat and fish. Was beautifully presented.
Portions sizes as expected were small. But in totality after 8 courses with x3 servings of bread, still needed another meal to fill the gap.
We have dinned at many other places with 6/8/10 courses and even on the smallest being 6 courses, have felt 'content'.
We had the option of ordering a cheese platter as an additional meal. We were then asked if there was any cheeses that we do not enjoy, I stated clearly 'goats cheese'. A cheese trolley was then rolled over and the waitress then cut us 5 slithers of cheese. To which was 'goats cheese' was placed, which was then flicked off and replaced with a hard cheese. At €17.50 each for a cheese board - for 5 slithers of cheese I honestly say I feel RIPPED off. No fruits, bread, crackers to accompany this. There was no special presentation of this, nor was there any special skill that was required for this.
Overall, glad we tried it, but wont be returning to this restaurant and unfortunately not recommend to our friends and family.
Good food and will come again.
Sashimi there is the best one I've ever had! Oriental cherry flavored ice cream is excellent! The whote set is so creative! Great experience there.

Over Graphite
